WALTER G. ANDREWS GRADUATE STUDENT OTTOMAN LANGUAGE SUMMER SCHOOL TUITION SCHOLARSHIP
Description
This scholarship is for graduate students who are enrolled in an accredited higher education institution in North America to study Ottoman language. The funds will be provided for the tuition expense of an Intermediate or Advance Level Ottoman Language summer program in Turkey. This scholarship is sponsored by Melinda Andrews to honor the legacy of her husband, Walter G. Andrews, who was a valuable historian of Ottoman and Turkish studies and a dearly loved professor in the Department of Near Eastern Languages and Civilization at the University of Washington, Seattle, and passed away in 2020. Walter G. Andrews was among the founders of the American Association of Teachers of Turkic Languages.
Eligibility
​• Be currently enrolled in a graduate level academic program in North America related to Ottoman history
and/or language
• Have a minimum B average in current program of study
• Have minimum Elementary Level knowledge in Ottoman language
